CONNECTION & SPEED

SingLinkVPN Connection and Speed FAQ

Most connection and speed problems are fixed by switching nodes, switching modes, or switching networks. This page lists the troubleshooting steps by problem and explains Fast Mode, Secure Mode, and Auto SingLink.

Cannot connect

SingLinkVPN won’t connect or a node has no internet — what should I do?

#

In most cases, switching to another node, switching between Fast Mode and Secure Mode, or switching to another network brings the connection back. If it still fails, update the app and contact support.

Platforms
All platforms

SingLinkVPN nodes run around the clock and reconnect and repair themselves automatically, so most drops come from fluctuations on your local network. When a node has no internet, pick a node again by hand and reconnect.

Steps

  1. Switch to another node. On Plus and above, also try a node on a different protocol.

  2. Switch between Fast Mode and Secure Mode to see which suits your network.

  3. Still nothing? Disconnect, refresh the node list, wait a moment, then reconnect using one of the top few high-quality nodes.

  4. Turn the VPN off and open speedtest.net to check your local connection. If the page will not load, the speed is very low, or you are on a campus network, move to another stable Wi-Fi network or a phone hotspot. The VPN can only be as fast as your local connection.

  5. Make sure the app is on the latest version (see the table above). If it is not, download it again from the official download page.

  6. If none of this helps, record a video or take screenshots and contact live support so the team can look into it.

Windows

  1. Some Windows computers need network adapter mode turned on before the app will work.

Notes

  • Since Android 2.6.1, the app includes error reports, so you can send a problem to us directly.

Why won’t SingLinkVPN connect on Wi-Fi when mobile data works?

#

Wi-Fi and mobile data travel over different carrier routes and traffic-management policies. Some Wi-Fi networks restrict international traffic more strictly or have congested routes, so the VPN can be slow or temporarily unable to connect.

Platforms
All platforms
  1. Switch to mobile data, or try Wi-Fi from another carrier.
  2. For temporary access, use the Free Plan: 200MB a day on each phone and 500MB a day on each computer, up to 1GB a day during campaigns, depending on the campaign.
  3. For a steadier connection, try a SingLink 2.0 node on the Pro plan. Actual stability varies by region, carrier, and network conditions.

Wi-Fi and mobile data usually use different DNS and NAT as well. SingLinkVPN updates its nodes and routes several times a day; an update often helps, but how quickly things recover depends on your local network and carrier.

SingLinkVPN keeps loading after sign-in, shows an empty node list, or signs me out — what should I do?

#

Update the app to the latest version first. Android 2.6.1 fixed unexpected sign-outs, empty node lists, and getting stuck on the sign-in page on slow networks.

On a slow or unstable network, signing in and loading nodes also take longer. If the problem continues after updating, work through the steps below.

Steps

  1. Make sure the app is on the latest version. If it is not, download it again from the official download page.

  2. Move to another stable Wi-Fi network or a phone hotspot.

  3. Disconnect, refresh the node list, wait a moment, then reconnect.

  4. Restart the app and try again.

  5. If it still fails, record a video or take screenshots and contact live support.

SingLinkVPN turned on by itself and used data without me tapping Connect — what should I do?

#

The VPN switching on by itself was a bug in older Android versions, fixed in Android 2.6.1. Update the app to the latest version.

Platforms
Android

On the Free Plan or a plan with a data limit (Fast, Max, Rich), the VPN turning on by itself uses up your data. After updating, disconnect in the app when you are not using it.

If it still happens on the latest version, record a video or take screenshots, note your phone model and Android version, and contact live support.

Speed

SingLinkVPN is slow — how can I speed it up?

#

SingLinkVPN can only be as fast as your local network. Test your local speed with the VPN off, then switch networks, pick a closer or less busy node, and update the node list before reconnecting.

Platforms
All platforms

Actual speed depends on your local network, your carrier’s international gateway, the distance to the node, node load, and your plan tier. When your local speed is low, switching networks is usually the most effective fix.

Fast locally but slow on the VPN? In some regions, carriers strictly inspect cross-border or proxy traffic, so your data travels through more network hops before reaching your device and latency and speed suffer. A network from a different carrier usually helps.

The connection mode matters too: Fast Mode sends only international apps through the proxy and is usually faster, while Secure Mode sends all traffic through the proxy and can feel slower. See how the two modes differ.

Steps

  1. Turn the VPN off and test your local speed on speedtest.net.

  2. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.

  3. Try a network from a different carrier.

  4. Choose a node closer to where you are.

  5. Switch to a node in another country, region, or line.

  6. Avoid nodes that currently have many users.

  7. Tap Update Nodes, then reconnect.

  8. Restart the app and try again.

Notes

  • Still not happy with the speed? A higher-tier plan gets faster speeds and higher-priority bandwidth, with Sola nodes on Plus and above and SingLink 2.0 nodes on Pro, Max, and Rich. See how to choose a protocol.

Why are my SingLinkVPN speed test results low?

#

SingLinkVPN adds several layers of protection, and some speed test tools, such as the ones built into phones, cannot measure the real speed. Use speedtest.net and compare the result with your local speed when the VPN is off.

Platforms
All platforms
  • Connect to SingLinkVPN and run a test on speedtest.net.
  • Turn SingLinkVPN off and test your local speed for comparison.
  • If the gap is large, switch to a closer or less busy node, or follow the slow-speed steps.

If you are testing before you have actually used the service, just start using it: how fast videos load and pages open tells you more than a speed test number.

Modes and nodes

What is the difference between Fast Mode and Secure Mode in SingLinkVPN, and which should I use?

#

Fast Mode uses split-tunneling rules: international apps go through the proxy while local apps connect directly, which is usually faster. Secure Mode is a global proxy that sends all traffic through SingLinkVPN for fuller protection.

Fast ModeSecure Mode

SpeedUsually faster, with lower latencySome local, banking, or payment apps and games may load slowly or not work
Best forEveryday browsing, AI tools, social apps, streaming, and local apps at the same timeRouting all of your device’s traffic through the encrypted network
  • Everyday use, top speed, or local apps at the same time: choose Fast Mode.
  • All of your device’s traffic through the encrypted network: choose Secure Mode.
  • Certain local apps will not work: switch to Fast Mode and add those apps to proxy bypass (Settings → Proxy Bypass).

Notes

  • Proxy bypass only works in Fast Mode. Secure Mode is a global proxy, so bypass does not apply.
  • Since Android 2.6.1, switching between Secure Mode and Fast Mode no longer drops the connection.
  • The social-media IP switch on Android needs Secure Mode.
  • Mode names and options may differ by platform and version; follow what your app shows.
